Landscape design is the plan. The on-site consultation, the drawings, the plant selections, and the quote for the work. Landscape installation is the crew showing up and putting it in the ground. How long the design process takes depends on the size and complexity of the property. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at the consultation rather than a guess over the phone.

Williamson County soil tends toward clay, which holds water and drains slowly, so plant selection matters more here than people expect. What works also depends on your specific site, sun exposure, slope, drainage, and how much maintenance you want to take on. That’s a big part of what our designers evaluate during the on-site visit, because a plant that thrives on one Franklin property can struggle two streets over.

Most landscape companies design from a catalog. We design from our own nursery. Hewitt has been serving Franklin and the surrounding area from our Hillsboro Road location, and our design team works alongside the same staff who grow and care for the plants we sell. When a designer specs a tree, they know how it’s performing this season, not just what a supplier’s spec sheet says. You also get to walk the garden center and see your actual plants before they go in the ground, which is not something you get from a design emailed as a PDF. And because we’re local, we’re still here after installation for plant questions, seasonal maintenance, and replacements down the road.
