Our story began in 1985 as Hewitt Horticultural Service, Inc. Founded by our dedicated owners, Bill and Beth Hewitt, we started our journey right from our home in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. Operating with nothing more than a single pick-up truck and a lot of determination, we specialized in landscape design and installation, quickly capturing the hearts of our clients and establishing a reputation for quality and service.
As our family and business grew, we realized that we needed a larger, more efficient space to serve our community better. In 1996, we seized the opportunity to relocate to our current location in Franklin, TN. This move allowed us to expand our landscape services and offer a unique retail experience for our customers, where they could explore an extensive range of plants and garden materials.
Over the years, our passion for horticulture and hard work led us to recognize the growing demand for quality landscape materials in the Middle Tennessee area. Bill Hewitt, with his degree in horticulture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, channeled his love for plants into the business. Today, we take pride in offering the finest selections, from vibrant annuals and perennials to stunning tropicals and the best trees and shrubs sourced from across the country.
In 2010, we welcomed the next generation into our family business with our oldest son, John Hewitt. With a degree in Plant Sciences and a focus on Landscape Design and Construction from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, John has taken up the mantle of design and landscaping. He has become the primary purchaser for our retail nursery, curating an impressive inventory that rivals any in the country.
The journey continued in 2013 when Bill and Beth’s youngest son, Jesse, officially joined the business. Growing up in our greenhouses, Jesse developed a strong passion for the retail side of the garden center. He holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee, bringing a design-focused perspective to our offerings. With a relentless pursuit of quality, Jesse specializes in rare and unique houseplants, quality perennials, and beautiful tropicals, also serving as the main purchaser for the retail garden center.
